But in Paula Mendoza’s studio, that word took on a new meaning: what if armor wasn’t just a shield to hide behind, but a way to show yourself to the world? That is how LORICA – ARMOR OF THE NIGHT was born—a collection created not as ornament, but as companionship, as a reminder that true strength always comes from within.
Todo comenzó con una palabra: Lorica. Una antigua armadura romana que, siglos atrás, protegía a los guerreros en batalla. Pero en el estudio de Paula Mendoza esa palabra tomó un nuevo sentido: ¿y si la armadura no fuera un escudo para cubrirse, sino una forma de mostrarse al mundo? Así nació LORICA – ARMOR OF THE NIGHT, una colección pensada no como adorno, sino como compañía, como un recordatorio de que la verdadera fuerza siempre nace de adentro.
The universe of the collection expands with names such as Perseus, Neo, Chakana, Tasset, Bushido, and Grace, evoking warriors and symbols of power and honor. Each piece embodies the idea of modern armor: light, versatile, and ready to move with you.
And while the collection itself already tells a powerful story, its launch needed a stage just as special. That’s why it was unveiled at ARTBO and the Bogotá Art Biennial, two of the most vibrant moments in the city’s cultural calendar. During those days, Bogotá transforms into a creative epicenter where artists, galleries, and the public come together to celebrate innovation and contemporary art. Immersed in that atmosphere of ideas, conversations, and discoveries, LORICA found the perfect space to be introduced to the world.
El universo de la colección se expande con nombres como Perseus, Neo, Chakana, Tasset, Bushido y Grace, evocando guerreros y símbolos de poder y honor. Cada pieza lleva consigo la idea de la armadura moderna: ligera, versátil y lista para acompañarte en movimiento. Y aunque la colección por sí sola ya cuenta una historia poderosa, el lanzamiento tenía que tener un escenario igual de especial. Por eso se presentó en el marco de ARTBO y la Bienal de Arte de Bogotá, dos de los momentos más vibrantes del calendario cultural de la ciudad. Durante esos días, Bogotá se transforma en un epicentro creativo donde artistas, galerías y público se encuentran para celebrar la innovación y el arte contemporáneo. En medio de ese ambiente cargado de ideas, conversaciones y descubrimientos, LORICA encontró el espacio perfecto para presentarse al mundo.
There, we didn’t see a single protagonist, but three very different models, because Paula Mendoza’s jewelry doesn’t have a “who for”: it is for everyone. The idea was to show that each person can wear it in their own way and make it part of their story. Bogotá became the perfect backdrop, with its neon lights, rain-washed streets, and that unique contrast between the silence of some corners and the energy of others. The city breathed alongside the collection and became another character in the story, reminding us that jewelry, like art, reflects who we are.
Allí no vimos a una sola protagonista, sino a tres modelos muy distintos entre sí, porque las joyas de Paula Mendoza no tienen un “para quién”: son para todos. La idea era mostrar que cada persona puede llevarlas a su manera y hacerlas parte de su propia historia. Bogotá fue el escenario perfecto, con sus luces, calles brillantes después de la lluvia y ese contraste único entre el silencio de unas esquinas y el bullicio de otras. La ciudad respiró junto a la colección y terminó siendo un personaje más, recordándonos que la joyería, igual que el arte, refleja lo que somos.
